One arrested for creating fake facebook account of senior police officer

While social media is gaining the popularity as tool to connect people and share information, it's also being misused to dupe people. In a similar case Patna Police arrested Vedant Mishra from Bhogaon Police station area in Mainpuri District(UP).

Acting on the information that someone has created fake facebook account in the name of Patna SSP Manu Maharaj and spreading false information among people connected to the account, a case was registered in Sachiwalaya Police Station.

Following on the leads provided by Technical surveillance team and information obtained from other sources, police finally arrested Vedanta Mishra from Bhogaon in Uttar Pradesh.

As per the information around 3500 people including Bihar and UP police and other government officials were connected to the fake facebook account.

SSP Manu Maharaj also appealed to the people to be careful and properly validate the social media account before connecting and following the information shared.
