21.02.2017(Patna): Meeting with the officials of Indian Reserve Bank and Public sector banks in state, DM Sanjay Kumar Agarwal issues orders to take action against banks for delay in opening rural branches in villages. It is to be noted that against the target of opening bank branches in 59 villages, only 04 has been opened so far.
He further directed the bankers to identify the districts where there are no banking facilities. He said that banks should fast track the applications of POS and Student Credit Cards and provide services which would help in cash less transactions in rural areas. Stressing the importance DM said, that the banking facilities in rural areas are important for successful implementation of government schemes such as Jan-Dhan, Jeeval Jyoti Insurance schemes.
