Darbhanga, Dec 07, 2025: Holy Cross Pre-Primary School, Madarpur, celebrated its two-day Annual Function with great enthusiasm. This year, the event featured a grand two-day Annual Sports Competition as part of the celebrations.
The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Chief Guest Dr. Jai Chandra Akela, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, Darbhanga, along with School Principal Sister Pushpika, Sister Neeli, Sister Jency, and Sister Elsit, who jointly lit the ceremonial lamp and hoisted the flag.
The young children delighted the audience with impressive displays of their sporting talents. The Chief Guest declared the Sports Meet open and released white pigeons into the sky. After taking the sportsmanship oath, the children participated in the Olympic Masala Relay, followed by a colourful and well-coordinated march-past by students from Nursery to Upper KG.
The young children welcomed the guests and parents through a prayer dance and a welcome dance. Students from Nursery to LKG took part in the inter-class competitions, which included a variety of engaging events such as Hop-Hop Race, Cap Race, Bunny Race, Collecting the Ball, Breaking the Balloon, Frog Race, Ring Race, Get Ready for School, Caterpillar Race, Passing the Ball, and a 50-metre sprint.
A large number of parents were present to cheer for the children and also enjoyed a special entertainment game titled “Booming the City.”
Addressing the gathering, Principal Sister Pushpika emphasized that along with academic learning, sports are essential for the all-round development of children, helping them build discipline and team spirit. The day concluded with the distribution of medals to the winners, followed by the School Anthem.
The second day of the Annual Sports Meet at Holy Cross Pre-Primary School, Madarpur, commenced with great enthusiasm. The programme was inaugurated by Chief Guest Kaushal Kumar, District Magistrate, Darbhanga, along with Special Guest Father Roy Mathew, Additional Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Sister Jency, Principal of Holy Cross School, Donar, Darbhanga, Sister Neeli, Sister Elsit, and other dignitaries.
The Chief Guest officially declared the Sports Meet open and released white pigeons into the sky. After taking the sportsmanship oath, he lit the Olympic Torch, which was carried in relay by the school captain and the leaders of all four houses. Upper KG students then presented a colourful and well-coordinated march-past.
The little ones welcomed the guests and parents through a prayer dance and a welcome dance. Their energy and enthusiasm throughout the events were commendable. Students of Upper KG participated in the inter-class competitions, which included several exciting activities such as Hop-Hop Race, Cap Race, Bunny Race, One-Legged Race, Ring Race, Get Ready for Party, Sack Race, Hurdle Race, Kangaroo Race, 50-metre Sprint, Relay Race, and Passing the Ball.
Encouraging the participants, the District Magistrate highlighted the importance of non-academic activities alongside academics for the overall development of children. Principal Sister Pushpika reiterated that sports play a vital role in fostering discipline, teamwork, and holistic growth.
The programme concluded with the distribution of medals and certificates to the winners. A vote of thanks was proposed by a teacher, and the Annual Sports Day came to a close with the national song “Jana Gana Mana.”
