DM Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh addresses media over flood situation and relief work

20.08.2017(Darbhanga): In a press conference by Darbhanga district administration held on 19.08.2017, DM Dr. Chandrasekhar Singh addressed the media personal about the current flood situation in the District and relief work done by administration to provide support to people affected by flood.

Addressing the conference he said, 127 panchayat in 11 blocks has been severely affected by flood and 10 persons have died. A total of 295 boats (including government and private) is being used to relocate the people on safer places and distribute relief materials. Approximately 3,407 displaced people has received relief materials so far.

A total of 36 health centers are treating approximately 1420 persons in the affected areas. A mobile unit is also kept ready and deployed on NH.

Foods are regularly being prepared at community centers and aganwadi centers have also been asked to support the relief initiative run by district administration. As per the data shared, prepared food has been served to approximately 26000 people, 13900 food packets and 6500 polytheen sheets has also been distributed among flood victims.

Nagar Nigam drinking water takers has been put in operation to ensure clean water supply.

DM Dr. Chandrasekhar Said, action has been taken against Block Officer Om Prakash Gupta, Kusheshwarasthan East for not reporting on duty despite several reminders. A notice has also been served to block officer Hanumangar for not providing details of boat purchased.

DDC Sri Vivekanand Jha, AC Suman Kumar, SSC Ramesh Chandra Chaudhary, Disaster management officer Shankar Sharan Omi, DPRO Kanhaiya Kumar and other officials were present at press conference.
