DMC is one of the oldest medical college in Bihar. Situated in Darbhanga district, it is well known for providing health services to many cities and areas in Mithilanchal and bordering states like UP and West Bengal. People from bordering Nepal also visit DMC for treatment & medical consultancy. DMC has always been known for the specialist doctors and many of them who served here have won laurels for their excellent service in India and the world.

This year it is celebrating its 98th Foundation Day. It is a festive occasion for the students, teachers as well as for the alumni. Darbhanga Medical College Foundation Day and Alumni Meet is being celebrated with great enthusiasm in the relaxed atmosphere after Corona and amid news of AIIMS being shifted to more suitable place from earlier planned location. Ten days prior to the commencement of the main event, the campus is in a festive mood. Activities of different indoor and outdoor games and sports of the students are going on. Multiple sport events like - boys' football, volleyball, basketball, kabaddi games, girls' carrom board, mehndi, rangoli, cooking competition are being organized. Darbhanga Medical College Literary Society organized many literary and artistic activities under 'Hatke Baatein'. Quiz, debate, expression, painting and street play were organized as part of the programme. All these programs saw prominent coverage by major main stream newspapers. For the first time during the CFD, the grand CME and International Medical Conference is being organized on 22 February 2023. 27 oral presentations will be for PG and 3 for UG and more posters will be displayed in the gallery outside the auditorium. During this, PG and Faculty will present their respective papers. Retired teachers will be given "Sudirgh Seva Samman" in a ceremony on 22 February 2023 at 3 pm in the auditorium. During this, 12 doctors from the Darbhanga Medical College Hospital, who have retired before January 31, 2023, will be honoured. There will be a "Prize and Accolade" program from 4 PM onwards in which UG and PG students will be given Gold Medals for their best performance. Medals, trophies and certificates will also be given to the winners of various competitions held during the week. The alumni meet of 1978 batch will also be held on this day.

The main function will be on 23 February 2023. Various Band players will create festive atmosphere in all the hostels starting from morning 8:00 am. Retired Professor Dr. K N P Sinha from the Anatomy Department of Darbhanga Medical College will start the program by hoisting the flag at 8.30 am in the old building. Students will garland the statue of Raja Rameshwar Singh located in the old building. After this, under the leadership of the doctors of Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, all the students and teachers will march past and go to AD Block to participate in events. Yesterday, under the leadership of Dr. Seema, Gynecologist, all the doctors of his department did a mock drill of the march past. During the march past, dancing to the tune of band instruments, the doctors will reach AD Block where they will celebrate. After refreshments, there will be a scientific session in the auditorium from 10:00 am. Renowned Cardiologist Dr. Ashok Kumar Gupta, National level Scholar of Medico-Legal Case and Alumni of DMC, Dr. Madhukar Bhatt, Retired Head of Department of Surgery, Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi and Alumni of Darbhanga Medical College and Nepalganj Medical College. Principal Dr. SM Mishra (retired) will deliver his lecture during the session.

After this, new and former students will exchange their experiences with each other during the "Meet and Greet" in the auditorium. Event after lunch will be inaugurate in virtual mode by Deputy Chief Minister cum Health Minister of Bihar State Shri Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. Guest of honor would be Dr. Samarendra Pratap Singh, Dr. Surendra Pratap Singh and Dr. Surendranath Sinha retired Vice Chancellor of Lalit Narayan Mithila and Aryabhatta respectively, present Vice Chancellor of LN Mithila University who are also in charge of Vice Chancellor of Aryabhatta Knowledge University and Bihar University of Health Sciences. The presence of Dr. Madhukar Bhatt, President of DMC Alumni Association and Dr. Raman Kumar Verma, Secretary, is noteworthy in this function. During this program Dr. S P Singh will be given Lifetime Achievement Award. The felicitation of the five Grand Masters will also take place during this ceremony. The Grandmasters this time are Dr. Rajendra Mishra, Dr. Mahendra Prasad Jha, Dr. Sachindra Mohan Mishra, Dr. Gagan Dev Narayan Singh and Dr. Shashi Shekhar Narayan Ojha. All the guests will also release a souvenir of more than one hundred pages during the program, which has been edited by Dr. Om Prakash, Dr. Sushil Kumar, Dr. Prabhat Kumar Lal and Dr. Praveen Prabhas with great effort. After the inaugural session, there will be a meeting of the General Body of the Alumni Association, in which the office bearers for the next year will be elected.

The cultural program which will be the center of attraction of the entire program and will start at 6:00 pm. The rehearsals that went on for the last 10 days, under super vision of Dr. Sheela Kumari, Dr. Gauri Shankar Jha, Dr. Raman Kumar Verma has been completed with great dedication and hard work and expected to enthrall everyone. This time a trade fair has also been organized in which around a dozen organizations will set up their stalls. Dinner will be organized under the supervision of Superintendent Dr. Harishankar Mishra, Dr. Hari Damodar Singh, Dr. Vijendra Kumar Mishra and Dr. Sanjay Kumar Jha. A large number of alumni expected to participate in this program, including more than 3 dozen alumni of the 78 batch. Considering the number of participants around one and a half thousand, to prevent any kind of chaos, this time all the delegates have been issue ID for entry.
